Possible problems and solutions:
1. As for the error **** FATAL **
Step 1: Find RA2.exe/RA2MD.exe in games "folder.
Step 2: Right-click on one, and then click Properties. Click the "Security" tab, and give a "user" Full Control, click Edit.
Step 3: Click on the Compatibility tab, then select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 98/ME or Windows 2000."
Step 4: Start the game and enjoy! (Tested personally on Windows 7 x64! The error I came up, I decided this way!)
2. To play online, try to change the key in the registry: Start - Run - regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Electronic Arts, there look for a folder Red Alert. Find the key (10-12 digit number, or the same as in the key generator).
Before you replace the key, copy the text (you never know will not yours), replace with a new save and close.
If successful it should create a game online and do not write that one key.
3. The game crashes about every 5-10 minutes, Windows XP SP 3.

Perhaps you have created another folder in the \ Red Alert 2 \ Red Alert 2 \. From this folder, move to \ Red Alert 2 \, while replacing files that are asked.
6. Solution, DirectX 11, does not support directdraw:
Follow the instructions in the archive Ra2.w7.fix (folder of DirectX 11 in the distribution) and it will work.
